Discuss your project

Tell JH Stat about your study and the support you need. An initial scoping conversation can be arranged.

JH Stat is an independent consultancy. Services offered through this website are separate from Jamal Hossain's university employment and do not imply institutional endorsement.

Enquiry

Send an enquiry

The more you can say about the design, the data and the timescale, the more useful the first reply will be.

How this form works. This is a static website with no server, so the form below does not transmit anything on its own. Completing it and pressing Prepare email opens a pre-filled message in your own email application, which you then review and send yourself. Nothing is submitted or stored until you press send. If your device has no email application configured, please email [email protected] directly instead.

So a reply can reach you.
If you are working to a grant or submission deadline, please give the date in your summary.
Helpful to include: the research question, the study design, roughly how many participants or records, what data you already hold, what software your team uses, and any deadline you are working to. Please do not include patient-identifiable or otherwise confidential data in this message.

Fields marked with an asterisk are required. By preparing an email you are simply opening a draft message in your own email application. See the privacy notice for how enquiry correspondence is handled.

Common questions

Before you get in touch

How does the first conversation work?

An initial scoping conversation can be arranged. It exists so both sides can work out whether the project is a good fit. The scope, timescale and fees are agreed in writing before any chargeable work begins.

Is my project too small?

Probably not. Short pieces of work — a sample size calculation, a review of an analysis plan, a second opinion on a reviewer's statistical comment — are common and welcome.

I am a doctoral researcher. Can you help?

Yes, with methodological and statistical support of the kind a university statistical service or supervisor would provide. JH Stat does not complete assessed academic work on a student's behalf or provide support that would breach your institution's academic integrity rules. Please discuss any external statistical support with your supervisor first — JH Stat is happy to correspond with them directly to confirm the scope of what is provided.

Can you work under our institution's contract and governance rules?

Yes. Purchase orders, supplier onboarding, non-disclosure agreements, data-sharing agreements and information governance requirements are all routine. Please mention any procurement process in your enquiry so it can be factored into the timeline.

Do you work with organisations outside the UK?

Yes, where time zones and any data transfer requirements can be accommodated. Say where you are based in your enquiry.
